MURDER CHARGE: Suspected Alfred Rewane Killer Freed, Fifteen years after he was arrested for murder

A 40yr old man identified as Effiong Elemi-Edu has narrated how he was imprisoned for 15 years for the murder of politician, Alfred Rewane, which it was later discovered that he was not to involved in. Narrating his ordeal to  Aljazeera , Effiong  who is from Cross Rivers, said on October 6th 1995 in the Ikeja part of Lagos state, he had gone out to buy suya for himself and his wife when suddenly he heard gunshots. According to him, he took cover and later decided to run to his house. As he made the move to run home, he was halted by an order from a police officer.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper initiated talks after the collapse of a £29million move to Madrid as he had grown tired of the furore over his future.  United said in a statement released on their official Twitter account: 'David de Gea has signed a new four-year contract at Manchester United with an option to extend for a further year.' Remember the Syrian boy who was recently discovered By Turkish Coast Guards after he was washed ashore when the boat carrying himself, his brother and the mum sank into the Turkish waters. The boy, wearing a red t-shirt and blue shorts, has been identified as three-year-old Aylan Kurdi from Kobani, a war-torn Kurdish town on the Turkey-Syria border.

Wisconsin Infant Survives Drug Overdose...

Baby survives after drinking vodka in formula... A six-week-old girl in  Milwaukee  (Wisconsin) who was mistakenly given baby formula mixed with two shots of vodka was expected to be released from a hospital. Police Spokesman,  Bradley Hetlet , said on Thursday in Milwaukee (Wisconsin), that the baby had a blood alcohol level of 0.294, more than three times the legal limit for an adult driver, after receiving the vodka-tainted formula. He said investigators believe it was a mistake and the girl's parents will not be charged for the alcohol incident.

OKAGBARE BANNED FROM COMPETING FOR NIGERIA...

Nigerian sprinter and Commonwealth queen of the tracks, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, has been banned by the National Sports Commission and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), following her appearance at the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday, a few days after she failed to run for Nigeria in the 200m event at the just concluded IAAF World Championship in Beijing, China. Guardian reports that Okagbare was Team Nigeria’s medal  hope at the IAAF Championship in Beijing but she fumbled in the 100 meters final, where she finished last, and also failed to show up for the 200 meters event four days later, despite appearing in the warm up area. She claimed injury and while some Nigerians were yet to come to terms on what transpired in Beijing, there was a shocker a few days ago, when Okagbare announced she will not be representing Team Nigeria for the 11th All Africa Games in Congo, an action which AFN and NSC finds unpatriotic.  hmm... we always never learn. Lets hope she is
