RALLIES, demonstrations, processions and road shows are now illegal within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja – no thanks to the October 1 bombings.

In Jos, the police put the Bomb Disposal Unit on the alert as President Goodluck Jonathan begins a two-day visit to Plateau State Friday.
The Police said the measures were aimed at checkmating hoodlums who would want to hide under such events to perpetuate evil.
Commissioner of Police Haruna John, in a statement signed by his deputy, Mr. Stephen Ekpei, said: "Public rallies, demonstrations, processions, road shows or walk of any kind without permission from the police are hereby suspended.
"This is to ensure that such is not hijacked by hoodlums and miscreants to create confusion, pandemonium and false alarm as presently being witnessed in the territory. Offenders would be
arrested and prosecuted.

"While Command deeply regrets the loss of innocent lives and sympathises with families of the deceased and those that sustained injuries, people are hereby advised to go about their lawful businesses without fear and apprehension.
"Residents and visitors are advised to be vigilant and endeavour to report promptly to the nearest police station any suspicious movement in their locality."
Plateau State Commissioner of Police Ikechukwu Aduba spoke yesterday on the preparedness of the command for a hitch-free presidential visit.
Aduba said: "I wish to assure all citizens of the state and Mr. President that all hands are on deck in collaboration with sister security agencies like the Army, Civil Defense, Air Force, FRSC etc.
"Experts from our Bomb Disposal Unit are on hand and on red alert just as traffic has been fully taken care of to avert any unforeseen circumstances. By the grace of God, the visit is going to be hitch-free".
The police commissioner added: "Relative peace has been achieved on the Plateau and there is the need to sustain it before, during and after the President’s visit. We are warning all evil men and miscreants to steer clear."
