Coalition of NGOs in Benin City stage protest in school where a 3 year old girl was allegedly defiled
A coalition of Civil Society Groups staged a peaceful protest following the mysterious defilement of a 3 year old kindergarten female at a nursery in Benin.
Founder of The Child Protection Network,Jennifer Ero who led the protesters explains why the move was needful...
"A 3 year old girl was defiled in school at Consultancy Nursery and Primary,UNIBEN Ekewan campus Edo State.
The child asked to go to toilet, the teacher gave her tissue paper to go on her own, another block away.
When the child returned ,they found out that she was bleeding,to the extent her stockings were wet with blood.
The child told them one uncle touch her bombom.
The two teachers in class were asked one of them couldn't not accompany her to the bathroom because of her age.
Then school tried to turn it around against the parents, alleging that it may have happened at home and that the bleeding started in school.
A child that was dropped off at school as early as 7.15 am and the teacher they handed the child to,said there was nothing wrong with her when she landed in school.The child asked to go to the toilet by 11.30 am. Bleeding starts at the moment of defilement ,even with adults.
Following our protests,the police is carrying out investigation in the school,in order for the child to identify the said 'uncle'.
The case has been charge to Egor court two Magistrate Court,Sapele road Benin City.
We hope to get justice for the child.
Schools need to protect children under their care.
